CLARIFY

Pilot scale de-inking and de-lamination of plastic waste.

CLARIFY

Goal

Scientifically speaking, deinking is a complex task, as one has to consider the physiochemistry of diffusion between layers, as well as solubility and reactivity of the whole range of resins such as polyurethanes, acrylates, nitrocellulose, PVB, epoxy, amongst others. There is an urgent need for better understanding of this deinking mechanism and also the complexity of the deinking medium after the process to allow recirculation. It is indeed clear that recycling and re-using the deinking medium is an essential factor towards cost-efficiency. Furthermore, questions from industry to deink larger batches of ‘real waste’ have arisen (e.g. 100-1000kg) to test the material in their extrusion lines after deinking.
